the best words

projects are due today, and kids are frantic in an attempt to finish them. my name is whispered, shouted, and demanded from all corners of the room. i do my best to get to all of them as quickly as i can.

some are just more patient than others.

i am just more patient with some.

it has been a stressful, busy day.

but five words, said with such sincerity, brought about a calmness and changed my whole attitude:

"thank you for helping me."

do we thank the people we should?

or if we thank them, do they know what we are thankful for?

"thank you", though a wonderful phase, is not always enough. it doesn't always convey the real message. "thank yous" can sometimes be as aimless and vacant as, "oh, sorry."

i don't mean to take away the sincerity of a genuine "thanks," but, when you really mean it, take the time to tell that someone what, exactly, you are thankful for.

what's in a name

cement angel.

at the climax of my crazy summer, when anger and depression ruled my life, i saw her.

she sat alone in the garden center.

quiet
beautiful
peaceful

she radiated all that i wanted in my life.

i brought her "home" where she lived a few months amongst the flowers as my reminder.

she was the final object to come Home, bringing joy, comfort, peace, and smiles with her.

smiles

i wanted a place to write about food.

but i also wanted a place to post pictures.

but i also wanted a place to write about everyday things that simply make me smile.

my pictures make me smile.

and food makes me smile.

so i chose to bring them all together.

i hope you will smile with me.
